Adobe Media Encoder CC is a free video encoding software that allows you to compress videos for publishing on multiple platforms. It supports the latest H.265/HEVC codec and includes other advanced features like real-time previews, GPU acceleration, automations, and more.

HandBrake is a multiplatform video transcoder that supports all major platforms such as Windows, macOS and Linux. It uses Libavcodec which is an open source library of codecs and can be used in other projects as well.

HandBrake can convert most popular audio and video formats such as MP4, MKV, AVI, FLV, MPEG-2 and many more. You can even use the built-in presets or create your own custom settings by adjusting various options like bitrate, frame rate or resolution.
